United States Supreme Court Briefs
A key partner in this project was the United States Supreme Court, providing briefs that required an exceptionally low margin of error in scanning. They also wanted to see how microfiche scanning would integrate into scanning centers alongside other teams, such as book scanners. During this phase, David Pouge, a six-time Emmy Award-winning CBS correspondent, stopped by my desk for a friendly demo, showcasing our scanning capabilities.
My work helped to identify and address various challenges associated with microfiche digitization, including scaling the equipment beyond our initial setup.
I worked closely with Brewster Kahle, Internet Archive's Founder, Elizabeth MacLeod, the Senior Manager of Satellite Digitization Services; and other lead developers and engineers who constructed the machines in-house. My work also included co-handling shipments, entering metadata, and contributing to improving processes and systems related to inventory and supply chain logistics. Additionally, I played a crucial role in defining efficient scanning methods to maximize productivity even as the equipment scaled.
